Old Chicago Longmont to serve Thanksgiving dinner to over 500 Our Center clients

(submitted by Brigette Rodriguez)

Every year at Thanksgiving I like seeing the ways that people in our community help each other, as it helps to reaffirm my belief in the goodness of people.
Last year at this time one of my favorites was the event hosted by the Old Chicago Restaurant for hundreds of people and families of the Our Center. Even though this year more people are in need, I am happy to report that (according to coordinator Brandy Knott at Old Chicago in Longmont) the event has enough volunteers to help this year as well.
While I take this week off to take care of my family (they’ve missed me while I’ve been away on my computer!), I will be thinking about ways in which we can possibly help other families this holiday season. Whether it be anonymously giving grocery store gift cards to someone you see in need at Safeway, donating online to Energy Outreach Colorado (as I just read today that Xcel shut off 5,744 customers this October!), cleaning out and donating coats to Rotary Club, or giving just one needed basic necessity item to the Our Center…every little bit makes a difference.
Help give someone in your community a Happy Thanksgiving. There are many ways to do so.
Join us for the 20th Annual “Spirit of Thanksgiving” Dinner on Thanksgiving Day, November 27. Location: Old Chicago Restaurant in Longmont

This will be the fourth year at Old Chicago, but the 20th year the OUR Center has provided a complimentary Community Thanksgiving Dinner to anyone in need. This year we are expecting 500 clients and guests from The OUR Center at the Old Chicago in Longmont. A Day of Thanksgiving Each guest receives a warm welcome and an extraordinary dining experience. Seated at tables dressed in white linen tablecloths and napkins, silverware and china, guests enjoy a traditional meal complete with all of the trimmings. A strolling turkey and face painter will delight children as their parents enjoy live music performed by Michael Belmont.

I’ve been looking for a plug-in like this for quite some time and was hoping maybe you would have some experience with something like this.
Please let me know if you run into anything. I truly enjoy reading your blog and I look forward to your new updates.
