The anti-frackers exaggerated fears for our cities.
It seems a foolish play for Longmont’s anti-frackers to have a total fracking ban placed on the ballot this November.
First, they are showing their hand too early with this petition drive. If I were city council and staff, I’d emphasize that a painstaking effort has taken place for months to come up with a compromise that best serves Longmont. Working issues are still on the table. Continue reading
Longmont has seen some classic fearmongering campaigns from liberal activists in recent years – the assaults against LifeBridge, HeavenFest, and Airport Runway Extension to name a few – but the latest anti-fracking paranoia from ROAR (Citizens for Responsible Oil and Gas Regulation) has sunk to the point of out bottom-feeding them all. As if we didn’t know it already, Longmont Mayor Dennis Coombs has once again shown he’s a mere sock puppet for local hard left progressive ideologues.
The latest proof came with Coombs’ absurd suggestion regarding the passage of a sales tax increase to fund RTD FasTracks. It’s a plan that at best can promise Northwest Rail to Longmont in an unfathomable 2028-2034 timeframe. Continue reading
